This Cantilevered limestone staircase had moved in a number of areas and was in need of repair. it had been withdrawn from service prior to our works. We carried out works to provide safe access to the work areas via scaffolding. We designed and installed a propping lattice to prevent any slippage or worse during the repair works. We needed to ensure that we did not alter the cantilever effect by lifting during the propping operation. We then removed previous, unsuccesful, repairs to allow for our works. We inserted helical pins and resins to tie joints where required also we introduced movement where necessary. The works were completed to budget and time schedules agreed.
