Design team and site management
We engage with the project as part of the design process identifying the steps and tasks that can lead to uncertainty in cost and scheduling. This is often where there is a smaller conservation element on the project and there may not be a conservation architect involved. We work with the Quantity surveyors, both PQS and Contractors QS, to help to control risk to the cost base. We help to produce packages for sub contractors to go to tender and help with selection and tender evaluation.
We provide services to cost the conservation elements on projects for main contractors, our experience helps to have an accuracy on the conservation related tasks which can aid in determining commercial opportunities during the tender process. We have found this to be key to tender and project successes in the past.
When on site we provide day to day assistance on the conservation elements. This can range from daily visits or weekly visits to providing full time supervision on site for the conservation elements.
Property owners
We regularly help property owners with their projects. Some want a full service and we will bring our conservation architects, quantity surveyors, safety professionals and any other necessary team members to handle the task. A lot of the time a small input, of maybe a day visit and report, will suffice to give the client the direction required to get ahead. This is a service we gladly provide and will be tailored to suit your requirements.
When owners are considering purchasing a historic property, we will help them determine a budget for the required works prior to the purchase to aid with cost planning.
Trades people
We regularly advise tradespeople on the best approach for a conservation project. If training or upskilling is required, we can arrange this onsite or remotely if appropriate. We aid with tender preparation and costings.
Property inspection
We carry out inspections and issue recommendations for the appropriate repair and conservation of historic elements of properties. This can range from water ingress tracing and problem identification to timber condition reporting and treatment recommendations.
